Gastos sa Grocery para sa Family of 4 — Worth it ba?

One thing you can’t skip when you’re a parent — especially abroad — is grocery shopping. Whether it’s fun for you or not, it’s part of the routine. And this week, naisip ko, why not share our actual grocery haul from Aldi? Nothing fancy, just our family’s weekly essentials — good for a family of four, with two growing toddlers.

We did our shopping at Aldi, and our total came to £114.43, which is around ₱8,400 if you convert it (based on ₱73 per £1 exchange rate).

Medyo ouch sa peso, right? But wait — let me show you what we got for that amount.

💬 Real Talk: Worth it ba?

If you look at it in peso, yes, it feels expensive. Pero in the UK context, this is actually reasonable. And we always say this — Aldi is our go-to for affordable but quality groceries. No frills, but reliable.

This amount usually lasts us for 5–6 days, especially since we cook most meals at home. With two toddlers, snacks and quick-prep food are always on the list.

Pro tip: Check your pantry before shopping! Meal planning and sticking to a list saves you from overspending (kahit tempting bumili ng ice cream and more snacks… guilty 😅).

Final Thoughts ✍️

Grocery shopping here in the UK is part of the weekly grind. And while prices continue to change, good planning helps. It’s not just about buying what you need — it’s about making sure your family eats well, stays healthy, and you don’t break the bank every week.

So if you’re moving to the UK or already living here and trying to figure out your budget — I hope this gives you a clear idea of how far £100+ can go for a family of four.

Let me know if you’d like a downloadable version of our weekly grocery checklist or meal planner — happy to share!

Question for you: How much do you usually spend on your groceries? Do you also shop at Aldi? May tips ka ba for weekly budget hacks? Let’s share and help each other – para mas magaan ang adulting life abroad!
