Moving to the UK is exciting, but preparation is key. If you forget something essential, you might face delays at the airport, struggle with job applications, or encounter legal issues once you arrive.

Disclaimer: This guide is based on our own experience — sa experience naming mag-asawa — when we moved to the UK. Requirements can vary depending on your visa type or situation, so always check the official UK government website for the latest details.

1. Passport and Visa Documents

  • Original Philippine passport – This is your primary ID. You won’t be allowed to travel or enter the UK if it’s expired or missing.
  • Visa vignette or BRP decision letter – This proves your legal right to enter and stay in the UK. Immigration officers will ask for it.
  • Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) – Needed to prove your right to work, rent, and access public services.

Why it matters:
Without these documents, you cannot enter, work, or access essential services like healthcare.

2. Birth and Marriage Certificates

  • PSA-issued birth certificate – Proof of identity and age, required for school, GP registration, and future applications.
  • PSA-issued marriage certificate – Important if you’re on a spouse or dependent visa.
  • Certified English translations – To avoid delays and ensure acceptance by UK authorities.

Why it matters:
These documents establish your family relationships.

3. Academic and Employment Records (for those who are in dependent or spouse Visa na allowed maghanap ng work sa UK).

  • Diploma and TOR – Required for job applications, skills assessments, or further studies.
  • Certificates of employment – Proof of your work history, especially for sponsored workers.
  • Professional licenses (PRC ID, etc.) – Crucial for regulated professions like nursing, teaching, or engineering.
  • Training or seminar certificates – Adds value to your CV and can help you advance in your career.

Why it matters:
Missing credentials can lead to delays in hiring or even job rejection.

4. Financial and Banking Documents

  • Proof of funds or bank statements – Shows that you can support yourself while looking for work.
  • Remittance records – Sometimes required during visa processing or financial checks.
  • Payslips or tax documents – Useful for job interviews and tax record transfers.

Why it matters:
These documents help you open a bank account, rent a place, and access certain benefits. Important din ito kung magkaroon ng compliance check from the Home Office.

5. Health and Medical Records

  • TB test certificate – A mandatory visa requirement for stays longer than 6 months.
  • Vaccination records – Especially important if may anak kang mag-e-enroll sa school.
  • Prescriptions or medical summaries – Help you continue treatments under the UK healthcare system.

Why it matters:
Health records make healthcare access faster and easier.

6. Housing and Support Documents

  • Tenancy agreement or proof of address – Needed for BRP collection and GP registration.
  • Contact details of your sponsor or employer – For verification and emergency purposes.
  • Invitation letter – If you’re joining family or entering on a dependent visa.

Why it matters:

7. For Families with Kids

  • Birth certificates of children – Proof of parental relationship, needed for school and healthcare.
  • School records or report cards – To help place them in the correct year level.
  • Consent letter (if one parent isn’t traveling) – Immigration requirement to avoid travel issues.
  • Baptismal Certificates (kung sa Pinas bininyagan, kahit sa UK pinanganak) – if you are planning to enrol your children sa Catholic School.

Why it matters:
These documents support legal guardianship and smooth school enrollment.

Tips Before You Fly:
• Organize all original documents in one folder.
• Bring at least 2–3 photocopies of each.
• Scan and upload them to cloud storage for backup.

Final Thought:
Tamang documents mean a smooth transition. Mas okay na sobra ang dala kaysa may kulang. Being prepared helps you settle in faster, avoid delays, and focus on building your new life abroad.
