After submitting my UK naturalisation application at the end of December, the system generated a document checklist. This checklist shows exactly what I need to upload to the TLS portal and what to bring to my biometrics appointment. Once I reviewed the list, I uploaded everything required and locked it in.
I want to walk through each document on the list and explain what it is and why it matters, especially for anyone preparing for the same stage.
Colour Copies of All Passport Pages
The checklist asks for colour copies of all pages of my passport, including blank pages. This is not optional. Every page must be scanned clearly and uploaded in the correct order.
This document allows the Home Office to verify my identity, travel history, and entry and exit stamps. Even blank pages matter because they show there are no missing pages or hidden travel history.
Proof of Living in the UK for Five Years
Because I am applying in my own right, I need to show that I have lived in the UK for at least five years. This proves I meet the residence requirement.
Examples of evidence include council tax letters, bank statements, payslips, HMRC letters, or tenancy agreements. These documents must clearly show my name, address, and dates covering the full five-year period.
Degree Certificate
The checklist asks for my degree certificate to prove the required level of English. This is the original diploma issued by my university.
Even though I previously used IELTS for my Tier 2 visa and ILR application, naturalisation still allows the Home Office to request academic evidence. The degree certificate supports the English language requirement.
Two Referee Declarations
I was required to submit two referee declarations. These referees must meet the Home Office rules and must have known me for at least three years.
The declarations confirm my identity and good character. Both referees signed the forms, and I uploaded them exactly as instructed.
Ecctis Letter
This was one of the most important documents on the checklist.
The Ecctis letter confirms two things.
First, that my overseas degree meets or exceeds the UK recognised standard.
Second, that the degree was taught in English.
This letter supports both the qualification requirement and the English language requirement for naturalisation. Without it, the Home Office may not be able to decide the application.
Why Completing This Checklist Matters
The checklist clearly states that if any of these documents are missing, the Home Office may not be able to make a decision. They can also request additional documents later, but the goal is to submit everything correctly the first time.
Once I uploaded all documents to the TLS portal, I double-checked file quality, names, and clarity. Then I locked the submission.
Biometrics Appointment on 29 January
I am now scheduled for my biometrics appointment on 29 January, which is the next step in the process. During this appointment, my fingerprints and facial photograph will be taken. This step completes the identity verification part of the application.
After biometrics, the waiting period begins. The standard processing time is up to six months, though it can take longer in some cases. Pagalunan Saints 2025-12-29-22-…
DadBuhay Real Talk
This stage feels more real than filling out the form. Uploading documents, checking every detail, and booking biometrics makes the process feel final.
Naturalisation is not just one form. It is a series of steps that test your preparation, patience, and attention to detail. Every document tells part of your story in the UK.
For now, everything is submitted. Biometrics is booked. The waiting begins.
I’ll share another update after my appointment on the 29th. One step closer.
– Until then, love you bye! And that’s #Dadbuhay.
